Some days it is difficult to manage this. Some days I want to cry and give up.
But most days, fortunately, the joy of the lessons learned makes me smile. How can you smile when there is so much involved? When there seems to be a constant stream of loss? How can you be happy and hopeful when each meal you hope that the foods eaten yesterday will still be ok today?
Having been on this side of the fence, I find myself asking "How can you not smile?" Opportunities abound. My children are creative and have learned to be sensitive and compassionate because of it. When you meet others with similar opportunities and they are overwhelmed and discouraged, you truly understand. You can truly say "I have been there. It's tough. But you can find and create what you need for your family." You can offer resources, tips, recipes, and at times a listening ear.
A challenge becomes an opportunity. And suddenly, you find yourself smiling.
