Making the transition for my SJ from having dairy to not having dairy has been one of those regrouping times. Strange as it may seem, as Yoie had large amount to transition from at one time and we managed to weather that storm, this dietary change SJ is rather difficult. Possibly more difficult than it was for Yoie.
At first he didn't believe that milk hurt him. He fought every alternative I brought to him. The tears and drama. Now about 3 months later, I think he gets it.
About a month ago, he had a piece of pizza with regular cheese. His eyes puffed up terribly. That was after two months of being dairy free. He got it then. It was not fun to feel like that.
The challenge remained, what can he eat as an alternative. There are ever so many out there. The struggle is to find ones he enjoys. It is an expensive trial and error time. Yet, I think we are starting to make headway. Some of the foods he rejected outright, he now is willing to eat. Perhaps his taste buds needed time to adjust. Perhaps mentally he needed time to accept this change. Whatever the case, headway is being made. And the emotional, mental, and physical challenges of changing a part of his diet is easing up.
This momma is ever so glad of it and proud of him for overcoming this hurdle that entered his pathway. Keep up the good work, dear SJ.
