Today a recipe or a menu plan is beginning. How long will it take to perfect? Who knows. Perhaps, you might have an idea to add to it and may be responsible for a new fabulous dish.
Here is one way Ariella and I get inspired and begin to create:
I was having a craving: fried mushrooms and onions, but wanted a bit of oompf to it. Not sure what that was, I began with what I knew.
6 sliced button mushrooms, 1/4 C diced white onion, 1 TBS grapeseed oil and a squirt of Bragg's Liquid Amino Acid.
While that was browning and doing its thing, I found 2 C of cooked Basmati Rice. Added that.
Suddenly, I thought fried rice needs eggs. I went to the refridgerator to get eggs and spied leftover Amy's refried Black Beans (1/4 C). Forget the eggs. Hello beans.
I finished warming it and am eating a tasty snack. Something is missing. It isn't complete and ready to be a recipe. All this brown and white. Mostly a mushy texture. Hmmm. Perhaps it needs slices of avocado to liven it up. Peharps diced tomato and shredded lettuce. Perhaps sour cream or salsa. Maybe corn chips. That would be tasty. Yet, that seems so ordinary and common. Easy enough of a recipe with plenty others listing their versions of this. Perhaps I'll create this and add it to our list.
But what happens if we add another twist? I took away the eggs. What if we add them back and take out the beans? What if we add spinach or kale with the beans and rice? What if...?
Anyone got ideas that go with a base of fried mushrooms, onions and rice? Some kind of combination you enjoy? Perhaps a craving that "hey, why not try?" I'd love to hear your ideas.
