2015 I have decided at least in the area of the kitchen to once again be more organized and more thoughtful. My husband also changes how he gives me money. He gives it to me once a week now. This is working out well. I plan out the menu for the week, then go shopping on Friday mornings. After I am done running around getting groceries. I go and fill up the gas tank. If there is anything left that is when I can try to fill in and get some of the things that the kids need. This has been working well and is helping me to get a better grasp on my spending. With going to the store every day or every other day and only getting a little bit of money at a time. I was ending up spending more money than I thought I was or more money than we really had. This way of doing things also creates the opportunity for me to have to follow my menu plans and not just get busy and not get around to making planned food. There is no money in my checking account generally after I go shopping. So no quick trips to go get a quick snack or something quick for the kids. It is forcing me into a higher level of accountability. Also making a variety of new dishes, it is kind of fun to cook again. I was kind of in a rut last year and when I did cook it was essentially the same things, my standbys, or fallbacks.
For me personally I have learned, I function better when there is some level of order. When things get chaotic, I shut down. Whether it is a messy house or no meal plans. I am not talking about "stress" I am able to handle a high level of stress. it is just when my home is messy and not in order I don't tend to function as well overall. It was a good lesson to have learned and now we are leaping into 2015 and hopefully we will get back on track to be healthy & organized!
Are you happy with the general flow of things in your home? Or is it time to evaluate? Is there anything that might serve you better if you changed it up a little bit? If so, don't be afraid to take the leap and try to institute a few changes even if they are small. it is a step in the right direction!
