C (and the rest of the family) are doing a modified version of it. My husband and stepsons well they are not necessarily on it per se BUT the meals i serve are all GAPS meals and they get the same things as Yudah. K has IBS so i am hoping that this will help him with that. Even if it is not complete because he eats other stuff obviously when he goes to his moms on the weekends. But they get the same things as Y. C, and E i decided to let them have eggs. After being a long time vegan it was REALLY hard to overcome this..... HOWEVER... I am not going to bend on the meat. I decided we would be vegetarians for awhile and see how it goes. It was left for C to not have a lot to eat and i didn't feel like i had a lot of choices. I dont have the time right now to make all raw meals all the time. I just dont. Though i fully believe in raw and vegan. It was hard to see my kids eating that. But i guess we will see what happens. see if they actually DO get healed. C will do a repeat GI panel and food sensitivity testing towards the end of the year. We will see if there is some improvement. E is doing a GI panel and food sensitivity test when he gets back. Since food sensitivities seem to be so problematic amongst my family well we thought it would be in his best interest to see what is now causing his eczema and such and make sure we are not feeding him those things which his body really should not have. Honestly it would help if their biodad could get on board. Even though he was court ordered he STILL is not doing what he is supposed to. It is incredibly frustrating to have children and not be able to fully do for them what you are supposed to because the other parent sabotages it with every visit. In fact it down right stinks. But what do you do, other than keep trying. (and of course deal with that stuff in ANOTHER court setting and hope they can FORCE him into compliance) C seems to be having some improvements anyway. at least when she is with us. So overall i have no idea what the picture will look like when she goes back in for retesting in the fall. I had some GI testing done (and plan on getting the food sensitvity testing done as well) I knew my GI tract got messed up in march 2009 in the car accident. My digestion has not been normal since then. Well it showed that. I have a follow up with the DR in a couple of weeks. Will see what he says he would like for me to do.
Some days it IS overwhelming to have very high needs children and myself. Some days even my husband doesn't understand and he lives with us. ha. It can impact your life in SO many ways. BUT we perservere and try to make the most of it and do the most you possibly can for these kids.
I found an AMAZING recipe book last week! "The Gluten free almond flour cookbook" All the recipes are made with almond flour and nothing else! no gums and multiple flours. All of those things are things that me and my kids can not eat. Almond flour though we can have. I have felt like i can have FOOD again! Everything i have made out of there has been absolutely delightful! I made pancakes and my daughter C was BEGGING for more. (Y and E were at camp) I had one and it was really good. The best Gluten free pancake i have ever had. and it was sooo incredibly simple to make! I also made white bean burgers, savory vegetable quiche, ginger bread cookies... and there are so many more recipes i hope to try! It has crust recipes, breads, crackers, main dishes, deserts.... MMMM! If you do not have an almond allergy this is the BEST cook book i have found in a long time. I found a raw recipe book i want to get as well by Jennifer Cornbleet. I have tasted recipes from that and they have all been really yummy. And i ordered the GAPS cook book. I need some new inspiration. Anyhow! bon apetit!
