Monday was supposed to be raw food day, but we had a girl scout sleepover sunday night and then 4 extra kids with us on Monday since it was the last day off of school for winter break. Not very many want to eat "raw" It is foreign to them and different. Plus we were going to be out a good portion of the day to go to a bounce house place for the afternoon. hard to pack salads which was what was going to be our lunch for the day. So decided to make Thursday raw food day and make Monday soup night. It worked. Regardless though, I did pack a bag of raw fruits, baby carrots, nuts, seeds, and raisins for snacks. In addition to sandwiches. All the kids were happily snacking on all the healthy foods. If you provide it they will eat it. When we got home, I just laid out a bunch of raw fruits & veggies on the table for them to eat as they were hungry and what they wanted. Again, it was all eaten up. So while we didn't have a raw food day, we did have a lot of raw foods in there. I just didn't call it "raw food day".
Though this week has been filled with some ups and downs. I got all the grocery shopping done on Friday for the week, had a menu plan put together, have done good on my budget an have not asked my husband for more money (he gave me an allotted amount for the week and I am trying to stick within that), we have pretty much been sticking to planned meals, everyone has been eating healthier, and my sons mood is starting to lift.
The lower points - we didn't follow meal plan exactly (but really that is ok), my family got SICK this week. My daughter and my husband are both down and out with the flu. My son seemed like he may be falling ill but he recouped quickly. I am still healthy. Illness is never fun. I am sure all the green juices & green smoothies are putting them both into some detoxification mode plus the added lack of sleep for them. My daughter had a sleepover and my husband was traveling which I really do believe can weaken the immune system. Using on guard (a doterra essential oil) for my daughter and just having her drink a lot of water. I am sure she will come around on the other side of it. She spent yesterday and today resting.
Overall I would call this a successful week. Look for the bright spots and grow from there!
