I had to start - restart school a few times. My husband taking this job where he is primarily out of state threw a lot of my personal goals and dreams out the wind. Being a single mom 95% of the time can be challenging, and it just kind of threw me in a tail spin of free falling through the wind. Many changes have happened and life goals shifted slightly but now working on bring all back into balance - including personal balance and health in my life. I am nearly 40 and there is only one of me. I have realized, I feel better and do better when I am taking care of me I can better take care of others. That advice would go to anyone. You need to spend a little bit of time taking care of yourself in order to be able to have that constant state of giving. There needs to be something in the "tank" can't just run on empty. Or if you do find yourself just continuing to run on empty, eventually something has to give - whether it is your physical health, mental health, emotional health, relationships, etc. You can not just keep digging a tunnel out underneath of yourself and never fill back up. There have been a lot of stresses - court battles, losing my career due to car accident, losing someone I cared about deeply, then when I thought I was starting to pull it back together bam! my husband got another job. Really it is good. Life is fluid and need to be able to roll with the punches whatever seems to come your way. It has all worked out, but now it is time to bring some focus and love back to myself. So that is the long and short of where I have been.
I have been seriously focusing on my school though again and here is some questions that came up today.
What are 5 things you are afraid of doing but feel like you need to? what would be the consequences if you stepped forward and took action to do those things? what kinds of changes would occur if you went ahead and did what you were afraid of?
For me most of my answers revolve around health related stuff and just a general practice of taking care of myself. Before the new year rolls in I plan on starting to implement some changes. I have been successful in going to the gym regularly 2 times per week for weights & cycling for a few months now. I still get my dogs out a couple of times per week but time to up this. Also have been doing good with getting in at least one green smoothie a week and then once a week juicing. I would like to do more though. I am going to step it up by adding one more day at the gym and then another green smoothie or fresh juice in a week. This is a far cry from where I was once upon a time, but life is really a journey right? So instead of judging yourself for all the things you are feel you are not doing, take a moment to focus on what you ARE doing for yourself and begin to slowly ADD to that! It is your journey, don't let anyone else take you down or steal your thunder. Focus on the positive and try to add in more good! Ultimately, the one you really need to please to be happy is yourself.
Start now though! don't wait until New Years when everyone is making grandious New Years resolutions, speaking as a ex fitness instructor, people have good intentions but a lot of the times when you start out with such a massive change it wont stick ad will be too hard to follow through and build a true change. So start small and add something in that is do-able and start now!
Feel free to pop over and comment how you are doing or drop me a line to let me know!
